From the Chair
Welcome to Making Possible
55,189. That’s the number of people, as I write this, who have generously chosen to join our community of supporters of Make Possible: The Campaign for Carnegie Mellon University.
As the chair of both the Board of Trustees and the campaign, I am proud of what that number says about Carnegie Mellon and this community.
It shows that so many of you are inspired by CMU’s vision of the future of research and education. It shows that you believe in the power and promise of our students, faculty and staff, and how they are changing our world for the better.
Already during this campaign, donors have funded initiatives to push the frontiers of science and math, to understand how technology is transforming our society, and to advocate for a more equitable world for all. They’ve given resources to create new facilities that will spur even greater collaboration and innovation. They’ve established 308 endowed scholarships and fellowships and 49 endowed professorships to attract the brightest minds to CMU and make a CMU education more accessible for current and future Tartans.
But the people of CMU never rest on their laurels.
As you will see in this inaugural edition of our campaign impact e-publication, our supporters are making possible groundbreaking initiatives, but this is just the beginning of the long and important work ahead. The generosity of our community has been remarkable — especially amid a pandemic that disrupted so many parts of society — but there is more to do before we declare success and celebrate.
More than ever, the world needs the creative, innovative, restless minds of Carnegie Mellon. To our 55,189 — and counting — campaign supporters, we are deeply grateful that your hearts are in the work with our faculty, staff, students and alumni around the world.
And if you are not yet part of the campaign — join us! Now is the perfect time to be counted among those who are creating the future here at Carnegie Mellon University.
Thank you!
